PREZ READY TO JAIL CULPRITS

Martin Amidu President Akufo-Addo today [Thursday], after an emergency cabinet meeting at the Flagstaff House, named a former Attorney General in the National Democratic Congress [NDC] administration, Martin Alamisi Benz-Kaiser Amidu as the Independent Special Prosecutor (ISP). President Nana Akufo-Addo, announcing Mr. Amidu for the newly created office of the Independent Special Prosecutor, noted he will present the name to Parliament for approval. The President also commended him for his continual combat against corruption as an anti-corruption crusader. "I can vouch for his spiritedness", the President acclaimed the former Attorney General and Citizen Vigilante. The appointment of Mr. Amidu, to many Ghanaians, strikes fear in current and former government appointees who may have the penchant for corruption.                             ...

WASSCE EXAMS TO BE DETERRED FOR A MONTH

Dr .Yaw Osei Adutwum The West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) scheduled to be taken in February will be delayed by a month, a Deputy Education Minister in charge of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed. With effect from next year, candidates, he added, will be expected to sit for their examination in June. According to him, the move is to give candidates more time to prepare for the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) organised examination which is also taken by students in five Anglophone West African countries. Dr Adutwum made the disclosure to a loud applause from students at the Labone Senior High School in Accra yesterday when he embarked on a tour of some schools in the capital to welcome teachers and students back to school as they reopen for the second term of the 2017/2018 academic year. She tendered her resignation letter to her employers on Monday, January 8, 2018, citing personal reasons for her decision to quit.
